Making Realistic New Years Resoltuions

After the excitement of popping champagne, watching the ball drop, and counting down the final seconds until the new year begins, it’s time to come face-to-face with the long-awaited question you haven’t thought of since twelve months prior: “What is your New Years resolution?” As easy as it is to list off everything you wish to achieve in 2018, more often than not these ideas get swept under the rug come mid-February, and vanish all together by time spring begins. So, is there any correct way to approach the question, or should we continue to shrug and name the first thing that comes to mind? Take a step back and answer with a realistic approach. Put yourself first in this upcoming year, and with a cup of a Chameleon, caffeinate than dominate any and all New Year resolutions.

Ready, Set, Succeed!

Set your realistic resolutions with a successful outlook, instead of a negative connotation.

The first mistake many make when setting a New Years resolution is wishing instead of thinking. Hypothetically speaking, a resolution can be anything you want it to be, and more often than not these morph into lofty dreams rather than attainable goals. Take time to list a few bullet points of important things you’ve thought about all year, but haven’t quite mastered yet. Just the act of writing these thoughts down already puts you one step ahead, since we are more likely to do something if it moves from our mind to the paper. When thinking of where to start, don’t limit yourself to negative actions. For example, instead of writing “I will never eat sweets” think more positively, such as “I will eat healthier.” Setting yourself up for success makes all the difference.

Think outside the 9 to 5

Plan for goals outside of your 9-5 work week, and embrace your passions this new year.

After the glitz and glamour of holiday festivities, it’s hard to think about anything except the massive amount of emails you need to respond to from your out-of-office reply. While getting back to the grind is obviously important, aim to think outside of your 9 to 5 (or longer, if we are being honest!) in this new year. Make a resolution to set aside some of your free time to get creative and start, or continue, a passion you’ve always wanted to pursue. With a clear mind ready to conquer and a cup of Chameleon Cold-Brew as some bonus fuel, aim to achieve that #MakerMentalityand find fulfillment outside the office as well.

Take time to travel

Staying on track to success means knowing when you need a break, and giving yourself that time to recharge in order to maintain a healthy balance. In this new year, make a resolution to travel – regardless what the distance may be. Whether that means using your vacation days for a worldly adventure or just a small staycation to clear your head, explore the world around you and take advantage of all experiences outside of your normal activities, in any way possible. As funny as it sounds, schedule time to go off schedule so there is no fear (or actuality) of getting burnt out. And of course, bring along the tastiest and smallest travel companion to help you stay alert through any leg of the trip!

Make your mornings

Start your day with strong mornings filled with energy and Chameleon Cold-Brew caffeine.

Whatever your resolutions may be, starting the day strong is step one to conquering them. Allow time for yourself in the mornings to think about what you have scheduled ahead. Yes, setting an alarm twenty minutes earlier sounds dreadful rather than helpful, but allowing yourself time to eat a balanced meal (and make astrong cup of cold brew) can help plan out the rest of your day instead of feeling unneeded stress to get everything finished. Whether it’s cooking your own breakfast or simply giving yourself five extra minutes before leaving the house, make a resolution to make your mornings more than just running out the door.

Embrace alone time

Carve out time for yourself and your favorite cold brew.

In this new year, it is more than okay to be selfish and enjoy activities in the company of your own self. Too often than not we get caught up in so much going on around us, that we forgot to leave time for ourselves to take a step back and relax. Whether it’s exercising, reading a book, or just sipping on your favorite flavor of Chameleon Cold-Brew in a peaceful and calming environment, make a resolution to spend more time alone enjoying what you love in the presence of yourself. Time spent alone, even for a few minutes each day, can immensely impact many areas in your day-to-day schedule.
